oily skin care cleanser moisturizer

Care for oily skin with a gentle cleanser that is oil-free and preferably rinses off completely with water. I love soaps or foaming cleansers. My oily skin feels so clean after that. My favourite cleansers for oily skin, when I can afford it, are the foaming cleansers from clarins. They smell divine, cleanse thoroughly without stripping more oil than necessary. My skin feels so good after a wash.

My doctor told me to wash my face thrice daily to prevent acne. I went to her years ago with my acne problem and her monthly treatments worked. For maintainence, I had to cleanse skin thrice daily and apply the moisturizer she cooked up. She's a GP with an interest in skin care, and actually formulated her own range of skin care products which she'd put into those medical ointment containers like she would use for the creams and ointments she'd dispense to her regular patients. Anyway, after my skin condition stabilized, I stopped seeing her, (too expensive) but continued my thrice a day cleansing with wash off cleansers.

I've tried all sorts of cleansers. Those that are too harsh irritate the skin instead of helping out. Soaps or foaming cleansers that are gel based or at least oil free, work best for me. Those gently milk cleansers you wipe on with a cotton pad and remove with a toner don't help. I'd get a pimple breakout soon. As for creamy cleansers, in my experience, those were the worse on my oily skin. I'd surely get an acne breakout if I don't remove it completely with soap and water.

Even oily skin requires moisture. You can have oily skin that's dehydrated. Oily on the inside with pimples just waiting to surface, yet dry and wrinkly on the outside. That happens when in trying to get rid of all that oil, you overdo it and dry the skin too much. You end up with skin that's dry on the outside as the moisture has been removed. Underneath everything, your glands continue producing oil incessantly. The worst of both worlds.

You need moisture but not the oil. For oily skin, go for oil free moisturizers. I particularly like the oil-free moisturizing lotion from clinique. It soothes the skin. Skin feels so soft and comfortable after use and it does not clog pores.

When all else fails, or when I get rashes on my face (I've extremely sensitive skin that react to new skin care products I try. I like trying new things and 9 out of 10 times, my skin reacts badly to new skin care products.. even the very expensive ones) , I just use aloe vera gel as a moisturizer. It is oil free and soothes the itch and pain.
