cleansing skin care
As a person who has been plagued with acne since my teens, the cleansers I use are extremely important. Even with acne, you have to choose a cleanser that is gentle enough not to irritate the skin. I avoid anything with alcohol though most acne cleansers contain that stuff, and go for something gentle and oil free instead. The creamy cleansers cause my skin to break out. I might get away with the milky ones for a while but nothing beats a wash of gel based, oil free, alcohol free cleanser to get rid of the gunk.

When I'm broke, like nowadays, I use neutrogena deep clean which is okay. Considering I just recovered from a painful rash on my face (Probably from some acne skin care products I was testing but can't confirm the exact cause.) That is something. Other cleansers worsened my rash. They were either to harsh for my badly irritated skin, or to mild for the acne. It was nightmarish. Now, I stick to neutrogena deep clean facial cleanser until I can afford something better... Or curiousity gets the better of me and I try something new.

As a acne plagued teen, I used phisoderm. It proved too mild for my skin but it works for most people with acne. In desperation, I went for the much stronger phisohex. That contains triclosan. It is also what my mom's friend's teenaged son used to wash his feet with to get rid of the stink. It kills bacteria totally. Unfortunately, in the long run, it leads to wrinkles before their time.
I found out from an aunt who had acne as a teen and used that to manage her acne. She regretted it later on in life as that dried her skin and let to more wrinkles than necessary. Us oily-skin, acne plagued people have only one thing going for us. All that oils delays wrinkles longer. Unfortunately, when wrinkles do appear, they tend to be much deeper.
What worked for my mom and for me is clinique soap, clarifying lotion and moisturizer. That 3 step procedure costs more than drugstore cleansers but it is worth it. In her sixties, my mom still looks unusually young. Like my elder sister though she has never gone for any cosmetic procedure and would never let a botox needle touch her skin. She used the mild soap. Just wash your face with clinique mild soap, lather that with water then wash. Rinse off with lots of water. Soak a cotton wool pad in clarifying lotion and use that on your skin to remove traces of dirt and makeup with it. It is very refreshing and you'd be surprised at the amount of gunk you'd find on your skin. Although there is a stronger soap for acne and the clarifying lotion 3 is meant for acne, I go for the mild soap and clarifying lotion 2 which is good enough for my skin. It cleansed well, controlled my acne then without stripping away too much oil.
