Does it work?
I'd love to find out. I've got a weight problem. You see, I love food. When I'm happy, I eat to celebrate. When I'm depressed, food cheers me up. When I'm stressed, I stuff food into my mouth to relieve stress. As a result, I've got plenty of kilos and inches to lose.

I tried ediets. It didn't work for long as I cannot stick to a diet. I'll eat what's listed on my diet plan and add on plenty more. Maybe a good workout would help?

A friend sent me Billy Blank's Elite. I was all set to go. Ready to try it out.. the workout portion, not the diet bit mind you. I'll eat moderately and not starve myself. Out of curiosity, the meals looked delicious and fattening. So much cheese, yet women have lost weight on this. I'll stick to eating what I like thank you, but in moderation. Maybe cut down the chocolates and ice cream and crisps if I can. Nah, I'll just eat normally.

The program has 3 main workout videos. Mission One Getting Started, Mission Two Maximum Power, Mission Three Rock Hard Abs.

The program is a one month schedule that eases you into the full program. Intially, Mission One is done on alternate days. Then, Mission One and Mission Two are on consecutive days with a day break after that. Finally, Mission Three is worked into the mix.

I postponed doing these workouts for months. I hate workouts. Workout videos are boring. Not this time. The music and beat is catchy and gets you in the mood to work out. Billy, Shelly and his entire class are bubbling with enthusiasm. So much energy and postivity. I was hooked. So were my kids. I found my 6 year old jumping beside me. He found the kicks and punches really cool. I loved the kicks. Gets the stress out of the system. A better way to beat stress rather than gorging down food. I'd imagine whoever I'm mad at right in front of me and I'm kicking that person's face.

Even though Mission One's getting started is for beginners, I couldn't follow the entire workout that easily. The good thing about DVDs is that you can pause and rewind where necessary, repeating that section until you can catch it.

Before I even got past the first 7 days, my husband said I looked better already. I took my waist measurement as a gauge as to how effective this thing is. By the end of two months, I'd lost an inch of my waist and a miserable 1 kg. Then again, I cheated. I did not follow the diet plan.

Mission two helps you break through that weight loss plateau. It is tougher but you really burn the fat. I felt good after each workout. The endorphins are a sure way to beat depression. The first few times were tough. I couldn't follow through parts of it, but eventually, I could keep up.

Finally came the Rock Hard Abs workout I'd been waiting for. I've got a jelly belly that bounces when I walk and would do anything to get rid of it... anything except diet.

Turned out tougher than I thought. 15 minutes into the workout and I wanted to give up. Then it was down to the floor exercises. My abs are so weak, it is embarassing. My mom in law, older than my own mother was trying to get me to do situps in the past. She'd do one after another while I wouldn't even be able to do a single one. Needless to say, when it came to the sit up portion, while the entire class in the DVD was merrily doing one sit up after another. I was stationary on the floor, grunting away, trying to get up. Crunches would have to do instead.

Overall, I'd say it works. My tight jeans were lose. My jeans and shorts felt like they were falling off. Needless to say, I was elated. Then I fell sick, down with flu, could not exercise for a month. After I recovered, I was too lazy to start again. By then, I'd gained the weight I had lost (sort of. Shorts are still loose. phew).

Needless to say, Billy Blanks workouts work.
