I never thought much about bergamot essential oil until my friend told me how it helped her with her migraines. She had horrible splitting headaches that just wouldn't go away. Then she heard about this oil. Now she diffuses bergamot essential oil in her office. She has a bottle of diluted bergamot essential oil with her, so when migraine hits, she massages a drop on her temples to ease away the pain. It works for her.

Pure bergamot essential oil must not be applied directly on the skin. Dilute a drop or two of it in 5 ml or 1 teaspoon of olive oil, sweet almond oil, grapeseed oil or any carrier oil and store in a clean bottle for use.

I normally wash, dry and keep the empty essential oil bottles to recycle them for diluted oils.

After hearing her experience with bergamot essential oil, I hopped over to The Body Shop and got a bottle. I love the fragrance of neroli. Bergamot has hints of that neroli cologne like fragrance, but is a little more fruity. After all bergamot is from the rind of the bitter orange tree while neroli is from its flowers.

It is a delightful fragrance that can be used as a fragrance on its own... well diluted of course.

One thing to note about bergamot is that it is phototoxic. When bergamot is used on the skin, it makes skin more sensitive to the sun. In other words, when you use bergamot on your skin, stay away from the sun.
